How do gematria numbers contribute to understanding sacred texts such as the bible or torah?

Gematria is a unique and ancient form of numerology in which numbers are assigned to words or phrases based upon their numerical equivalent in Hebrew language. Gematria has been used as an aid to unlocking deeper meanings of both the Bible and Torah for over a millennium, allowing readers to gain new insight into these sacred texts.

Unlike regular numerology, gematria assigns letters of Hebrew alphabet each with a numerical value after giving its numerical equivalent to each word. This helps the reader make deeper connections between the words in the text and their associated numerical values. Therefore, gematria numbers give an extra layer of understanding when deciphering these ancient scriptures.

In gematria numerology, every Hebrew letter is associated with its respective numeric value from 1-600. One area where gematria can be particularly helpful is in identifying whether certain words have similar meanings or represents different concepts based upon their differences in numerical values. For example, if two words are found to have the same number value then it can be surmised that they might express similar ideas or concepts despite having different literal meanings. Thus, gematria helps deepen our understanding of certain passages and subjects by connecting one concept to another through the use of numbers instead of words alone.

In addition to providing an easier way for understanding the text itself, some believe that use of gematria helps connect modern life to ancient times by providing valuable insights on current events that can only be revealed through deep analysis of the scriptures using this system of numerology. For example, various groups have claimed that by analyzing certain passages using gematria they were able to determine dates related to major events such as terrorist attacks and natural disasters before they occurred. While some strongly affirm while others deny such claims, what we can learn from them is how firmly and deeply rooted the spiritual connection between man and God is through this form of esoteric study of ancient texts.
